Let's Get Acquainted Link Up

I don't have any Farmer's Wife blocks to share today but I did make this dress for my 7 year old.  However, despite measuring the dress on her throughout each step - it ended up way too small.  Fortunately, I might be able to alter it a bit to fit my 18 month old instead (yes, I was that off in the sizing!!!)  Maybe next time I should use an actual pattern instead of just trying to wing it.

  1. I have had the opposite problem recently - making a dress that is way too roomy for my skinny 6 year old! I have just bought a patternmaking course on Craftsy so that next time I will know how to adjust the bodice as the length is fine. Lovely fabric btw - lucky 18 month old getting a bonus dress!

  2. That's too bad, it's really cute though! I seem to have the problem whenever I wing it too, always ends up too small.

  3. I just love how you planned to make it for your 7 year old and your baby gets it now. Babies always get the best things.

  5. Adorable, Beth, even if the sizing was off. I love those fabrics and have had them in and out of my online shopping cart more times than I can count. How did you like sewing with voile? Any tips?
