A Scrappy Quilt Backing


A few weeks ago, I had started randomly pulling scraps from my stash and improv piecing them together.  I didn't really like where it was going but it was large enough that I decided to add a few more strips and save it to use to back a future quilt.  About a week later I finished a quilt top that matched the size of the backing and decided it would make a good pairing.  (I'll share the quilt top soon - it is part of tutorial.)  Ironically, after quilting, I like tthis improv stripe-y thing so much better - now I'm thinking maybe I WILL make a quilt top like this!

    Some of my very favorite quilts are those made from scraps! Looks fantastic and am looking forward to seeing the front of this soon!

    I've been quilting two years this month and to be honest I had a hard time getting used to the pieced backings. However, now that I see not only the beauty of using leftovers but all of the opportunities, I am a huge fan. Great job!

    Wonderful idea and it looks great. I love pieced backings but I haven't done one with scraps yet. That should definitely go on my Must Do list.
