Well, I have officially finished my largest quilt top to date.
I made and pieced together 30 12" blocks - which might be small for most of you but it seems huge to me! The blocks were fun to make and I could have happily kept on going but I stopped here thinking ahead to the actual quilting part.
I also used this opportunity to try to figure out some new places inside my house to take quilt pics since this top was too big to fit on the white brick wall in my sewing space that I usually use. The photo above is on my couch in front of a large window that faces west.
This is the floor in front of the couch.
The chair on the other side of the room.
And finally on my bed.
Well, the photo taking is still a work in progress but I'm having fun experimenting with the possibilities!

This is truly the prettiest version of this quilt I've seen! It is just stunning. The fabrics you picked look amazing together. It reminds me of a Sarah Fielke quilt.
ReplyDeleteThe fabrics are great in this quilt you have done a great job. I love how all the pieces just fit together. Pat yourself on the back you did a great job.
ReplyDeleteLooks great! Do you know how you are planning to quilt it?
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love it! And it was SO fun to chat with you this morning!! :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!! It's gorgeous :) In March I'll be quilting my biggest quilt yet too... Gulp!
ReplyDeleteA really beautiful 'trip' x
ReplyDeleteLove it!!! Just started mine today
ReplyDeleteGorgeous Beth!
ReplyDeleteLooking fabulous Beth, and i mostly make little quilts too, so that would be massive for me, i understand what you mean about the quilting- pretty daunting, but i am sure you'll do a great job, maybe pay one of the kids to hold it up for you whilst you quilt!! ; )
ReplyDeleteIT's amazing to see so many of Scrappy Trip Along quilt in blogland and this is the prettiest I've seen so far! Love the colours.
ReplyDeleteIt looks gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWow - that's a quick turnaround! Love the colours. What a happy quilt!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty Beth - the largest quilt I've ever done is lap-size and the thought of quilting anything bigger than that on my little machine scares me just a bit!!!!! Sx
ReplyDeleteNow you've just about convinced me to start one myself :) I love the pops of the darker values throughout the quilt. And I particularly like the shot on that beautiful charcoal chair!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great! I have loved seeing these quilts pop up all over and have been fighting the urge to make one myself. Maybe I will, every time I see one I think about it more and more.
ReplyDeleteIt is absolutely beautiful Beth. You did a great job on this quilt top. I like the shot of the quilt on the chair, the lighting is perfect. I also like the shot of the quilt on your bed... the lighting is softer but still shows the colors very well. I'm looking forward to seeing the quilting you do for this one.
ReplyDeleteWoo-hoo! It's awesome! Don't make me start one of these...
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! The colours are bright yet calming - lovely.
ReplyDeleteWow it is just gorgeous! I really want to give this quilt a go some time, it looks like so much fun and it's so impressive too. Your photos are lovely too :-)
ReplyDeleteVery nice. Did you sew single squares together or use the strips technique? I am collecting both to make a scrappy like this. How do you intend to top quilt it..FMQ--wise?
ReplyDeleteYou're done? It looks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteIt looks fabulous Beth, well done.
ReplyDeleteBeth, I love this! It's beautiful! And I agree, 30 12" blocks is huge for me too.
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful! Lovely photos, too!
ReplyDeleteLovely Beth! How will you be quilting this one?
ReplyDeleteIt is so pretty! The colors are very calming and pleasing to the eye and I like the value range. I love all the pictures! I can't get enough quilty poses :D. The size feels huge to me too...I do almost exclusively lap-to-twin size quilts, but they still always feel unwieldy to me!
ReplyDeleteI've loved all the versions of this I've seen so far - they're all really colourful. I really need to give it a go! :-)
ReplyDeleteThis quilt is so beautiful. What a lot of work! Enjoy quilting it so that the snuggling with it can begin!
ReplyDeleteLinda F.
It is amazing Beth! I want one now!!
ReplyDeleteIt turned out great. I have to find a good inside photo spot too. It has been way too cold to go out and my typical spot has been buried in snow and/or mud.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty. I'm slowly getting sucked into the Scrappy Trip madness. I'd rather move some big quilts than bins of fabric, so I guess I should get started.
ReplyDeleteI am loving these Scrappy Trip quilts. I will have to think about adding one to my to do list. Nice job!
ReplyDeleteOk so I really must join this Scrappy Trip cult thing...amazing and beautiful things result!
ReplyDeleteFabulous well done, I love it.
ReplyDeleteYour scrappy trip a long quilt top is wonderful, Beth! Way to go!
ReplyDeleteThis quilt is absolutely stunning! Great variety in the fabrics and colors. Congrats on the finish!
